Spurs

Spurs are pointed, usually metal objects worn on the heels of riding boots. They are traditionally used by riders to urge a horse forward or to emphasize commands, enhancing control over the animal. Spurs come in various designs and styles, ranging from simple and functional to ornate and decorative. They typically consist of a rowel (a revolving wheel or pointed piece) or a blunt end that can dig into the horse’s side, helping the rider communicate cues without using excessive physical pressure. While spurs are associated predominantly with equestrian activities, they also symbolize horsemanship, authority, and the connection between rider and horse.
