Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with the primary objective being to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. Players are primarily allowed to use their feet, but can also use other parts of their body, except for their arms and hands, which are reserved for the goalkeeper.

The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and organized globally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Soccer is known for its emphasis on skill, strategy, teamwork, and athleticism and is one of the most popular sports in the world, with millions of fans and players across diverse cultures. It is played at various levels, from amateur to professional leagues, and is also a major part of international sporting competitions, notably the FIFA World Cup.
