Peacekeeping

Peacekeeping refers to the deployment of international personnel, often under the auspices of the United Nations, to help maintain peace and security in regions affected by conflict or unrest. The primary goal of peacekeeping operations is to create a stable environment conducive to the resolution of conflicts and to protect civilians. Peacekeepers may be tasked with monitoring ceasefires, supporting the implementation of peace agreements, assisting in the disarmament of combatants, and providing humanitarian aid. They often work in conjunction with local authorities and other international organizations to promote reconciliation and rebuild communities. Peacekeeping missions typically involve a combination of military, police, and civilian components, and operate under principles of impartiality, consent of the host nation, and the use of force only in self-defense or defense of the mandate.
