Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The game is played on a circular or oval-shaped field, centered around a 22-yard long rectangular pitch. At each end of the pitch, there are three vertical stumps topped by two horizontal bails, collectively known as the wicket.

In cricket, one team bats, aiming to score runs by hitting the ball bowled by the opposing team’s bowler and running between the wickets. The batting team continues until ten players are out. The other team fields, trying to get batters out either by catching the ball after it is hit, hitting the wicket with the ball, or other means.

The game is divided into innings, with each team having the opportunity to bat and bowl. The team with the most runs at the end of the match wins. Cricket has various formats, including Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) matches, each differing in the number of overs allowed and duration. Originating in England, cricket has evolved into a major international sport with a rich history and cultural significance in various countries.
